How to Advertise: A Look into Media with Nyan Cat and GLaDOs

A lesson from one business to another: weird and stupid things are gold. When speaking of the word “presentable”, it’s not always about what looks nice and elegant that will catch the eyes  of the people who will help us survive in this hell hole called “the market”.  The most ridiculous, humorous, and strange icons that some of the members of the online community have enough time to create are what keeps sites such as YouTube, DeviantArt , and Newgrounds interesting to come back to, besides many other reasons. Let us take a look at one such strange example, a meme called Nyan Cat:

How can something so childish keep people sitting on their seats and eyes on the video? My answer: it’s charming, it’s humorous, and it’s creative.  If it’s popular enough and grabs a good enough audience it can spawn a huge fanbase, fanworks, and even increase the publicity of the product. Let’s take another example: This is for those players who couldn’t find her dry humor irresistible, as well as her musical talent.

As said before, if popular enough, it will gain such a following that people will spawn their own works based on , increasing the acknowledgement of the game for the creators. A great way to make sales I gotta say.

Begins with a trip!

Immediately entering the summer, it was apparent that the need to get out of town and away from the shop was great. What better place to go on a vacation than your our own hometown? So I headed to Puerto Rico to spend a couple of weeks revisiting some of the old sites, the family, and of course, the family restaurants. There is nothing better than eating something that isn’t prepackaged or for on the go. Here are a couple of examples of what I re-encountered:

Named and shaped after the canoes, canoas are made out of sweet plantain and ground beef, commonly topped with cheese. There is not just one way to make the plate, as many families add their own tastes to the meal. However, here is a link to a recipe:

Appetizers that closely resemble Chinese chicken fingers, they’re commonly full of cheese instead of chicken, though the later is also a nice treat. These treats are made of out of dough of corn flour, flattened and spread to be filled with cheese or chicken before being rolled up and fried. Here is a link to a recipe:

Home sweet home.
